Enoteca LX
The Problem
Enoteca LX was from the beginning so much more than another generic elegant restaurant in Lisbon. The space chosen for it has history ready to be shared with every guest: the Chafariz da Mãe d'Água one of the few indoor water temple and cistern from the 18th centiry. Enoteca LX needed to be legible as a serious, high end space dedicated to high quality wine tasting first, harnessing the magic of the location itself.
The tunnels
Wine needs dark, cool, stone, still air to age properly, and that's precisely what the tunnels of the Chafariz have been doing for centuries with water. Now, they are ready to do the same with Portuguese best wines.. Enoteca LX uses the building for exactly what it was already built to do. New, fashionable bottles and decades old ones stored in the same channels the city's water once ran through.
The World
Everything in the identity had to carry that same weight without tipping into costume. The palette pulls from wine and velvet, deep, saturated, a little theatrical. Custom illustration work and a mix of heritage Lisbon photography with modern sharp shots tie the brand back to the city itself rather than to wine cliché.
The System
Classic, historical, unmistakably high end, but rooted in Lisbon specifically rather than a generic old world aesthetic. The identity earns its formality because the space genuinely has the history to back it up.
